WANTED: An exciting opportunity is available for a forward thinking, self-motivated and dynamic IT specialist with a passion for data. The incumbent will function on strategic level with regards to extraction, transformation and loading of data into the Enterprise Data Warehouse. The extraction of information from the various lines of business systems into a normalized warehouse will be a key responsibility and challenge. Data scrubbing and cleansing ability to keep track of the dynamic changes in the SARS business environment will be crucial as well as third party data sources. Automating the ETL process through scheduling and exception-handling routines.

Job Purpose

To provide advice and support on architectural design strategies in the EDW in order to achieve business objectives. Design and implement EDW related strategies and support ETL team to develop and deploy extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) modules for loading data from multiple platforms and systems onto the SARS Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).

Education and Experience

Relevant Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma  (NQF 7) AND 8-10 years’ experience in  at least two of the following: data collection, technical support, source to target mapping, or database administration. 8 years’ experience with SQL server, SSIS, DB2 and NATURAL/ADABAS databases will be an added advantage. Experience in Data Warehouse load utilities.

OR

Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 15 years experience in  at least two of the following: data collection, technical support, source to target mapping, or database administration. 15 years’ experience with SQL server, SSIS, DB2 and NATURAL/ADABAS databases will be an added advantage. Experience in Data Warehouse load utilities.

• Optimise goal achievement through tactical strategy implementation and optimisation of practises, processes & systems across an internal value chain.
• Plan for value-added, continuous practice & system improvements to deliver on objectives to enhance tactical implementation and excellence.
• Proactively identify interconnected problems, determine its impact and use to develop best fit alternatives; best practice implementation solutions.
• Translate top down policy in relation to own practice area and communicate impact to relevant stakeholders.
• Recommend changes to optimise processes, systems, practice area and associated procedures and execute the implementation of change and innovation.
