SARS Specialist IT Contingency Planning Job Description

Job Purpose

To provide expert advice and support on IT contingency planning strategies in order to achieve business objectives. Project plan, engage with technical resources and co-ordinate disaster recovery testing as per planned disaster recovery test scheduled.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

Relevant Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) AND 5-7 years’ experience in an Information Technology (IT) environment, of which 2-3 years ideally at functional specialist level.

ALTERNATIVE #

Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 10 year’s IT related experience

Minimum Functional Requirements:

Foundation level ITIL or ISO Certification, A+, N+, project management and/or any network or server related certifications would be beneficial.

Job Outputs:

Process

Develop and maintain productive working relationships with peers, SARS role players and third parties to achieve predefined objectives.

Initiate process and procedural change, implement the change and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
Plan for value-added process improvements, initiatives and services to deliver on operational strategy and objectives.
Provide specialist input through the investigation of opportunities for operational and process product and risk optimisation.

Ensure that completed work adhere to relevant policies, procedures, governance and legislative requirements and report on deviations & discrepancies.
Implement and provide input into the development of governance, compliance, integrity and ethics processes within area of specialisation.
